End-User interface

Beesmart features a compelling end-user interface based on the Scaled Vector Graphics (SVG) technology. Special care has been given to the professional design graphics and optimization for responsiveness. Thus the user can have both rich graphics and a very responsive user interface. The user interface is skin able and can take on many designs.

Live TV

Live TV services provide functionalities to support watching and user customization of live TV channels. Live TV services provide intuitive and fast channel changing, teletext support, extensive per user channel list customization, EPG, multiple subtitles and audio streams support, recommendation system for Live TV content.

VOD

VOD services provide functionalities available to the user in an on demand manner. A user decides when and what to watch from a menu offered by an operator. Video assets can be categorized to ease the selection. It is also possible to define different packages of video assets for different models of billing. VOD services enable video content categorization, video content packaging, billing records, multiple language and audio support, VOD content encryption and content recommendation.

Customisation

Users can customize the look and feel of the interface to really make them feel »at home«. Users can select skin, language, avatar, set pin code, parental control and channel list, add/delete user profiles, etc.

Web browsing

Users can access the Internet through the TV where available. Users can simply navigate the web by just using the remote control while watching their favorite TV shows.

Multiscreen support

This enables Interactive TV on smartphones, tablets, PCs, and STBs.  An operator is able to offer their end-users the comfort of choosing the device they like most at the particular moment. Payable content is available for purchase on portable devices as well, thus the operator has more options for generating the revenue. End-users can also control their Interactive TV settings, manage recordings or start playout from any device they want and they do not depend on a remote control any more.

Multi-access Platform

Beesmart offers similar Interactive TV service regardless of the technology - IPTV, OTT, DVB-x, 3G, which gives the comfort of choice to an end-user and also to the operator.

Multiple Operators / Multiple Region support

Beesmart supports multiple virtual operators on a single system. Each virtual operator can define several regions and offer different services in each of them. A virtual operator has its own secure access to the BeeSmart  platform to manage, monitor or customize the services.

SDK – Beesmart Kit

An operator can create its own services and products, and integrate popular Internet services and social networks, accessible from TV, PC or mobile. Support and simplify daily business processes with additional integrations of any billing, provisioning, VOIP, prepaid or CRM system. Integrate news and video content sharing systems with Beesmart and, etc.

Open API - Beesmart KIT

Beesmart offers a straightforward and open interface for easy integration of additional client terminals. Open API enables different client devices to connect to the Beesmart and use its services. With Open API the client interface becomes technology independent as the TV service can be deployed to virtually any client device capable with video content play-out capabilities and HTTP/XML communication. New independent user interfaces can be designed and used with Beesmart.

Widget Store

Operators are able to attractively offer free or payable TV widgets to end-users. It is an effective way for increasing an operator’s revenue.

Instant Messaging

IM provides text messaging to other end-users while watching video content, thus improving loyalty end satisfaction of being part of operator’s user community.

VOIP Services on TV

Popular telephony features are performed on a TV as well: Caller ID, Click to dial, Call redirect and Call reject, Voice mail redirect, Personal phone directory, Call logs, and Message waiting indicator. Beesmart Professional supports open and standard protocols like SIP.

PVR and Time shifted TV

PVR and TST enable recording functionality, either in a network or on local STB storage. An end-user can initiate instant recording of live TV program or record shows in the EPG. Time-shift feature allows end-users to watch past TV shows, start watching a TV show from the beginning, or pause and continue a live TV program.

Prepaid TV

Support for prepaid systems and prepaid IPTV users, enables new approach of promoting, marketing and selling TV services. Prepaid users can purchase products or video content, they can check their account balance and top-up the account. Account balance is checked with prepaid system in real-time before every purchase is made.

Home Multimedia & Multimedia Sharing

End-users can enjoy any kind of content from devices of their home network on the TV - support for UpNp or DLNA.

With Multimedia Sharing, users can share their recordings, VOD content or personal uploaded images with their friends. Users can upload their photos to their Flickr account, create albums, view pictures and share them with their friends. Users can purchase VOD content and send it to their friend as a gift. This promotes content and the VOD service itself and thus increases VOD usage and total content sales.

Targeted Advertising

With enabled User statistics Beesmart tracks different user events on watched TV shows, movies and recordings. With activated Targeted Advertising feature this data is analyzed and used for targeted advertising purposes. Ads are presented in form of video clips or as pop-ups. Ads are sent only to users selected according to their interests. Several target audiences, content and time slots can be defined for every ad. Targeted advertising enables more efficient and more successful advertising of products and enables service providers to increase revenue with selling of ad space.

TV Commerce

Beesmart is integrated with the PayPal payment service. Users with active PayPal accounts can purchase different content or any TV shop product using their registered credit card or PayPal account. With activated TV Commerce support, service providers can easily charge users for different products and services using third-party applications like TV shop or TV voting.

Weather Info

Users can select and get weather information of their desired location. Beesmart provides accurate weather data to its users as it is integrated with popular and reliable Yahoo weather information service.

Centralized Search

Users can search all content from a centralized search location. Content can be search through Live TV, EPG, VOD or recordings content. Powerful search engine allows filtering of the search hits through different content types and categories.

Recommendation system for TV and VOD

Based on the past end-user behavior and interest, live TV and VOD content is recommended to an end-user, thus improving he user experience.

User Statistics

Beesmart enables the collection of events describing IPTV user behavior. This function is very useful for performing a detailed telemetry.

Hospitality Bouquet

Provides support for Micros Fidelio PMS system, “welcome” message, and ordering of hotel services making Beesmart a platform for hospitality environment.

Billing System Integration

Beesmart supports open formats. The relevant collected data can easily be exported to those formats (for example XML using WS-I) to be further on imported into a billing system. The system is also capable of importing data form a billing system and report a summary of charges on the TV screen.

VoD over DVB-C

VoD over DVB-C enables cable operators to offer interactive TV over their existing networks without the need to invest in pricey network upgrades.

Regulatory Requirements support

Beesmart fulfills several US regulatory requirements, such as EAS (Emergency Alert System) and storing of nPVR recorded content in separate files per user. The EAS solution is compatible with the equipment of Monroe Electronics and meets the needs of the U.S. national public warning system.

Connection with Social Networks

End-users stay connected even when enjoying interactive TV. They are able to use Facebook wall posts and get tweets right on their TV, as well as to follow popular RSS feeds and to keep up with the latest weather reports. Social TV widgets help improving subscriber loyalty.
